    The first neighborhood of Saïdia dates back to 1883. Under the orders of sultan Hassan 1st, a Kasbah was built on the left bank of the Kiss River to be used as a look out point and border post with Algeria, then under French rule.

    In 1913, Saïdia came under French protectorate. The French settlers liked the city and turned it into a seaside holiday destination.

    Since the independence from foreign occupation, this beautiful beach kept attracted more and more people, making Saïdia the most important tourist destination in North-East Morocco.

    Oujda, millennium city, was founded by Ziri Ibn Attia, and is the administration capital of the oriental region of Morocco. I
    t is located in North-Eastern Morocco and is the ancestral home to the biggest warring tribe in Morocco, the Beni Snassen (Berkane, Oujda, Ahfir, Tawrite, Taza, Tafoughalte and Zayo).

    Its strategic location, 9 miles from the Algerian border and 37 miles from the Mediterranean Sea, made it a natural crossroad between Morocco, the Maghreb and Europe. The city has more than 500 000 inhabitants.
    Visit the city by starting from the majestic gates of the medina and be enchanted by the charm of its gardens.
    Next is the Dar Sebti, a magnificent palace built in 1938 by a rich merchant recently restored and renovated; and finally the Charif Al Idrissi library that was created in 1956.

    The Moulouya outlet

    The Moulouya is a great Moroccan river that springs out at the junction between the Middle and High Atlas in the Almssid region near Midelt ( Kenifra province). The Moulouya is 380 miles long.

    Its course takes it through eastern Morocco until it finds the Mediterranean Sea near the town of Saïdia. 13 miles away from the city of Berkane, its delta covers more than 6 700 acres.

    The Moulouya Delta is a high-value ecological and biological site (SIBE rated) with an important biodiversity, rich water vegetation and hosts five distinct habitat zones: marine, delta, running water, marsh and swamp.

    Naturally, the Moulouya delta is a prime destination for nature lovers and a great getaway to discover this legendary river.

    Berkane

    Berkane and its surrounding region have a very long history.

    In fact, this city, whose name is linked to the Saint Sidi Ahmed Aberkane, has for centuries seen a number of different people and civilizations: Amazigh, Romans and all the Arab dynasties; which made this city an interesting blend of cultures.

    Nador

    Nador belonged at one time to rich and diverse civilizations: Amazigh, Phoenician, Carthaginian and Roman.
     
    There two theories as to the origin of the name Nador: the name Nador may be short for Aït Nador, one of the villages neighboring the laguna or may have come from the Arabic “nadar” meaning sight. In fact, Nador was a strategic observation point overlooking Spain.
