HRH the King inaugurates the Mediterrania Saïdia resort |
Friday June 19th 2009, HRH the King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HM Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ismail, proceeded to official launch Mediterrania Saïdia, the first resort of the Plan Azur, flag program of the Vision 2010.
The Vision 2010 aims to:
- Triple the housing capacity and rebalance the product between resort and cultural offers;
- Train at least 72 000 professionals in all fields pertaining to hotel management and tourism;
- Improve reception of guests, quality of services and entertainment;
- Restructure the institutional organization.
HRH the King then visited "Medina Saïdia", a 98-acre shopping galleria built in the style of a Moroccan medina and bound to become the new regional shopping attraction. |

June 19th 2009: 9th National Assembly of Tourism |
It is under Mediterrania Saïdia’s ardent sun that the 9th National Assembly of Tourism took place. An event marked, without a doubt, by the royal inauguration of the first resort of the Plan Azur by HRH the King Mohammed VI.
Present for the event were public officials, tourism professionals, investors, decision-makers and media from all over the country.
Several subjects were on the agenda:
- The escalation of the market penetration strategy in order to further secure the standings of the country in traditional markets.
- The targeted diversification into other segments and viable markets.
This Assembly was also an opportunity to confirm the tourism sector as a national priority, reiterate the commitment of all field actors to the investment momentum and stress the magnitude of the stakes.

For an exceptional resort, an exceptional party ! |

Friday June 19th 2009, 8 pm; the launch of the very first seaside resort of the Plan Azur, Mediterrania Saïdia, was definitely not a quiet affair. In fact, a huge inaugural party was held on the marina wharf.
More than 1 500 guests cheered Moroccan artists who put on a great show under the “crystal tent” set up for the occasion. In a serene atmosphere punctuated by the gentle rhythm of the songs performed by a « Gharnati » band, the guests shared an exquisite gourmet dinner.
To top it off in style, a fireworks show lit up the Marina sky with gold and silver fiery blooms to announce to the world the birth of magnificent Mediterrania Saïdia. |

The Great Saïdia Regatta: Ahoy Saïdia! |

Thursday June 18th, for the second year in a row, the Great Saïdia Regatta attracted seafarers and water sports enthusiasts.
Start line: Marina Saïdia, the new 62-acre pleasure port fast becoming the 3rd biggest marina in the Mediterranean.
12 crews sailed from Spain to race in this sailing regatta open to boats 33 ft and longer. For 45 minutes, the 12 contestants measured up to a fun and technical seashore course: heading to Saïdia, round the buoy, heading to the Moulouya outlet and out to sea, halfway round the buoy then return to Marina Saïdia.
A grand show followed closely by an enthusiastic crowd from the shore.
Friday June 19th, Pedro Llama, skipper of the winning crew, received the honor of accepting the 1st prize from HRH the King Mohammed VI. |

King’s Cup Final held in Mediterrania Saïdia |
|
 The 6th Golf King’s Cup was held this year June 14-19, 2009 on the magnificent 18-hole course of Mediterrania Saïdia: the Palmeral Golf Saïdia. The event marked the official launch of the Mediterrania Saïdia resort, the first of the Plan Azur.
12 teams of the best national golf players competed in this event, representing the major clubs of: Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia, Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, Royal Golf Fes, Royal Golf El Jadida, Royal Golf Marrakech, Royal Golf Agadir, Royal Golf Meknes, Royal Country Club Tangier, Royal Golf Cabo Negro, Sun Golf Agadir, Royal Golf Settat University and the new Isly Club of Oujda.
HRH the King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HM Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ismail, presented the trophy to Mr.Abderrahmane Boufetas, Superintendent of the Royal Golf Dar Essalam, and winner of King’s Cup Saïdia 2009. |
